Domestic Workshop | Pristina, Kosovo *

To prepare for climate change impacts and to foster the exchange of urban areas with special focus on flood risks management in the light of climate change in Kosovo* – this was the main objective of the two-day workshop and site-visit. For this, representatives of EU Member States, representatives of ministries, local administration and public institutions from Kosovo*, as well as national coordinators of the TRATOLOW project came together in Pristina, Kosovo, to discuss adaptation actions to reduce flood risk along a river basin targeted at a local municipal level.

Current and planned efforts on flood risk management in the light of climate change as well as opportunities to increase capacities were discussed: How can the exchange between urban areas, up- and downstream, be further promoted? How can the exchange of knowledge and best practice examples take place and what are the next steps to progress on flood risk management? All these questions were discussed against the background of climate change in Kosovo.

At the end of the workshop, the participants gained a deeper understanding of urban adaptation measures and their development, the preparation for climate change impacts, current efforts on flood risk management in urban areas and cities in Kosovo, possibilities of regular exchange of experiences with relevant stakeholders as well as best practice examples across the European Union.
