Türkiye has achieved some level of alignment and has certain in-country resources, but the implementation work needs to be strengthened. Türkiye has not yet ratified the Paris Agreement on climate change. Regarding its commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Türkiye submitted the latest national inventory on greenhouse gases in April 2020. Türkiye did not align its legislation with the Emission Trading Directive as well as with the EU’s economy-wide greenhouse gas monitoring mechanism. Türkiye also needs to establish an alignment plan for the Carbon Capture and Storage Directive.

The main beneficiary institution of the TRATOLOW project in Türkiye is Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
