This regional workshop with participants from the relevant authorities of beneficiary countries and experts from the EU Member States and the TRATOLOW project focused on the application of modelling and scenario developments. The two-day session (12-13 April 2022) took place via Zoom.
The aim of the workshop was – given the fact that the beneficiary countries have different experience levels when it comes to modelling tools and scenarios – to present and explain different models and methods and to develop scenarios and projections for capacity building that is both more detailed and country specific. This also included methods to bridge data gaps and/or to reduce technical uncertainty regarding emission projection scenarios.
In addition, best practice examples of EU Member States on how scenarios and projections have been developed and how the work has been carried out without an existing foundation were presented to the workshop participants. These references provided additional input and helped the beneficiaries’ experts to gain knowledge from both theoretical explanations and practical examples.
In general, the workshop also supported the need to raise awareness for climate policy, the creation of a common platform to exchange experiences and possible future actions, and the space for informal discussions.
