TAIEX TRATOLOW Regional Training - A regional approach to carbon pricing

Regional Workshop | Skopje, North Macedonia
National coordinators of all TRATOLOW beneficiary countries met for a two-day workshop in Skopje, North Macedonia to discuss options for a regional approach to carbon pricing. They were supported by representatives of their national climate change implementing agencies, from other ministries involved in implementing climate change policies and by representatives of the European Commission, the Energy Community, the World Bank Group and EU delegations from the region.
The lively discussions and working assignments focused on identifying the pros and cons of a regional approach to implement carbon pricing and the options for cooperation in carbon pricing infrastructure. TRATOLOW experts supported discussions by sharing experiences and lessons learnt in the EU ETS and other carbon pricing systems. Participants concluded there is a wide interest in and many opportunities for regional cooperation, and that further steps in implementation need to be made soon. To support this the TRATOLOW project and its network partners will organise follow-up activities to support beneficiaries in achieving their ambitions.
