From March 5th to 6th, 2024, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was abuzz with discussions and insights during the TAIEX TRATOLOW Workshop on ETS (Emissions Trading System) implementation. This workshop, aimed at capacity building on carbon pricing, gathered experts from various ministries and industry operators across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The workshop focused on preparing Bosnia and Herzegovina for the implementation of carbon pricing and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) introduced by the EU. Participants delved into topics such as the EU ETS, CBAM, MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) requirements, and legal and regulatory aspects related to carbon pricing.

Throughout the event, attendees gained valuable insights from speakers representing government entities, international organizations, and neighboring countries. Presentations covered lessons learned from the EU ETS, Croatia's implementation of EU ETS, and France's approach to CBAM. Moreover, discussions on impact assessments, MRV practices, and future steps in carbon pricing implementation enriched the dialogue.

The workshop also facilitated interactive sessions, allowing participants to address queries, share experiences, and engage in panel debates. Additionally, on day two participants dived into the building blocks for establishing an ETS, sharing technical details and lessons learned.

Overall, the TAIEX TRATOLOW & EU4Energy Workshop fostered a collaborative environment, empowering stakeholders with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the complexities of carbon pricing. With enhanced understanding and strengthened partnerships, Bosnia and Herzegovina is better positioned to embrace sustainable practices and integrate into the evolving landscape of carbon markets.
